MEET YOUR ZVS HOSTS #5: J. Lee Vocque

Well here we are at my playlist. What do I say about it? When I asked all the crew to come up with playlists that would help the listeners get to know them better I didn't put much thought in the fact I'D have to do it too. It was very hard to narrow it down, so hard in fact that I ended up making two more playlists then I needed (so expect another couple rounds of this in the future). I guess without further ado...

Jaye's Playlist

  1. Willie Nelson- I Didn’t Come Here, And I Ain’t Leaving
  2. The Beatles- Act Naturally
  3. Queen- Fat Bottomed Girls
  4. Tom Jones & Mousse T- Sex Bomb
  5. Nine Inch Nails- The Only Time
  6. ZZ Top- Breakaway
  7. No More Kings- Someday This song has inspired me a lot later to do something with my creativity.
  8. Mel McDaniel- Baby’s Got Her Blue Jean’s On
  9. Cake- Mr. Mastodon Farm
  10. AJ Croce- He’s Got A Way With Women This is such a damn good song, plus I think a lot of guys have known the guy this song is about.
  11. Jonathan Coulton- I’m Your Moon (live)
  12. Janis Joplin- Me & Bobby McGee
  13. The Beatles- Hey Bulldog
  14. The Coasters- Down in Mexico
  15. Bill Withers- Use Me
  16. Marc Cohn- Walking in Memphis I am 100% sure that the "pretty little thing waiting for the thing down in the jungle room" is my mom.
  17. Elvis Costello- Big Light
  18. Warren Zevon- Poor Poor Pitiful Me
  19. Joan Osborne- Man In A Long Black Coat
  20. Dusty Springfield- Son Of A Preacher Man This is such a sexy song, and I've been lucky enough to hear my hot wife sing this on stage.
  21. Billy Joel- Vienna
  22. Eric Clapton- Layla (Unplugged)
  23. Frank Sinatra- One For My Baby (And One More for the Road) My vote for the greatest song ever written.
Well that's it for now folks. I hope you have had fun with your hosts playlists. I know I have. Please stayed tuned on iTunes where this lists will soon be available for direct download so you don't have to search for the songs one at a time.

Next week expect another fine playlist from us at ZvS, all about the Golden State.

All Hail Queen!

On the heels of our musical episode, we continue the melodic theme by discussing the music of Queen. We here at Zombie vs Shark feel that Queen is often underappreciated by the music fans because they don't have new music, staying on top of the charts and even considered stadium rock.
However, when you look further into their music you will see how diverse and well orchestrated it was. The individual talents of the band members is amazing alone, but when they came together as Queen they put out some of the best music available. Tune your dial to 'He Done Did Hid It' to hear our discussion on one of our favorite bands of all-time!

Most Overrated TV Shows Of All Time

The 13 Lucky-List has arrived! This week we bring you the most overrated TVshows of all time. This episode guarantees to piss some people off; there will be TV shows that are beloved and sometimes even revered on this list.
Having said that, there could have been several other shows to make the official list. It seems we have a plethera of overrated shows on television today, so we may have to re-visit this episode in the near future to update it. Until then, listen to 'Don't I Get An Apology' and please send in your hate mail to us...we're waiting.

Rise of The Planet Of the Cowboys OR Apes And Aliens

The other day while waiting for car repairs my hot wife and I took in a Double Feature.

COWBOY AND ALIENS

Thank goodness this flick didn't take itself seriously because it would have ruined the fun. It was a fast paced western/sci-fi/action (how often do you get to write that) with a good storyline (with very few plot holes) and really good acting (still odd to me that Daniel Craig got top billing over Harrison Ford) and great effects. I loved the creature design of the aliens. I was very happy at the characters' honest reactions when it was revealed why the aliens were there. All in all I'd say catch this flick if you are looking for a fun ride that you don't have to do too much thinking through.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

I should mention I am a fan of this franchise (minus the god awful Tim Burton piece of shit remake). That being said I was very much looking forward to this flick. I was promised action, lots of nods to the original and answers to questions that were posed in the 70s. I got all I was promised. With the source material being The Planet of The Apes it easily could've taken a cheesy turn, but it stayed on an honest path of "evolution" and the mistakes man makes when he "plays god". James Franco is a one trick pony in my opinion but thankfully that one trick worked here. Tyler Labine (REAPER), David Hewlett (CUBE), Tom Felton (HARRY POTTER...) and Brian Cox (ZODIAC, X2) all give excellent performances, however the stand out role (and the actor I didn't know was in it) John Lithgow delivered a heart breaking role that quickly had you loving him. If you were a fan of the franchise (and really really want to forget that dung heap that was Tim Burton's remake) than you should see this movie at all costs.

But then again...this is just my two cents...spend it as you wish.

The Show Must Go On!

Apologies folks, but our next 13 Lucky-List will have to be postponed until next week's episode. Our very own Jaye Vocque had a sudden change in his rehearsal schedule (for ZOO STORY). For those who were not aware, Jaye is currently in a show along with his hot wife. Check out the details below and then check them out on stage!
On with the show! Because of the short notice, we threw together an impromtu show along with a familiar voice to fill in for Jaye. Listen in to this week's episode, 'Cured The Black Death' to discover how we would play dress up and how we would dress each other. Also, what is your favorite running gag from the TV show ARCHER? (leave your comment below)
