2014 Halloween Run-up Ep #4

Laboratory furnished by Labs "R" Us
Fear. Fear leads to dark places. Fear runs wild with the imagination. Fear fuels irrational behavior.
We fear what we do not understand, and in some cases, we use it...to make a movie! Welcome to the fourth installment of Zombie vs Shark's 2014 run-up to Halloween! As we near the end of this year's series, the guys decide to discuss the 'accidental' classic monsters.
This episode gets broken down into two types of monsters, both are heavyweights. The first, is the kind that was created in a lab. Lots of liquids boiling on bunsen burners, and traveling through funny shaped glass. While the other, is a result of *gasp* the nuclear age! Mutants, mongoloids, nature gone wild (yes, pun very much intended).
But as you tune in, you begin to understand how both instances are taken from humanities real life fears. It goes beyond the fear of what's lurks in the dark. We have monsters right in our face, disguised as some sort of new and amazing drug or a revolutionary new technology that will infinitely improve our lives. It has gone beyond what has come before, but the a question still remains...will I be ready for the Surprise in my Backyard?

...without the other
You can't have one...

2014 Halloween Run-up Ep #3

Clairvius, a known Voodoo zombie
Depiction of a Traditional Hebrew Golem

Well the guys can't stop now, not that they want to, talking monsters is a favorite topic around Plan B Studios. Jumping right into it, the Zombie vs Shark presents the third episode of the 2014 run-up to Halloween by talking about 'intentional' classic monsters.
There are definitely some oldies but goodies discussed this week, however they creatures range from the distant past to far off futures (some less far off than we think)! Tony learns what a homunculus is and Jaye decides to share some information about German and Russian super soldier testing during World War II. You might want to skip that part!
Regardless, all of the monsters mentioned are closely related and have one very distinct characteristic in common, man's hubris. Each creature was brought into this world because someone decided they not only had to power to create, but the power to control as well. In turn, each and every creation goes terribly wrong; which often led to its demise.  Each fallen creation taking a toll on many of those involved on its way down. An important lesson is to be learned here, a word of warning, a cautionary tale...so pay heed, for things never go well When Man Plays God.

2014 Halloween Run-up Ep #2

A depiction of the 'Jersey Devil'
The Halloween run-up episodes continue. This week, the gang will bring to the forefront; monsters that have been long forgotten, scoffed at, and just plain refused to believe even exists! In the second installment of classic movie monsters, they guys broach the subject of 'natural' monsters. As in these creatures have been brought about by evolutionary means or, as some may say, horrible hybrids born through unnatural unions.
However, ZvS, chooses to view these monsters from a fascinating and loving perspective. Passionate arguments are made in the courtroom of life, from expert witnesses in the field of Cryptozoology. Hey, you can't argue with scientists and that's a fact! There is even a brief mention of ancient aliens, you don't know, That Might Be True!

2014 Halloween Run-up Ep #1

Have you been counting the days? We here at Zombie vs Shark certainly has, it is time for the ZvS run-up to Halloween! This year, the guys will be discussing the various classic movie monsters in several installments. Focusing each week on a different archetype of monster. The guys open the topic up with 'historical' monsters how pop culture pulled them from the pages of history and made them into what we know today.
Will the guys mention your favorite monster? Maybe, it all depends on what category the monster falls into. Historical being the first run-up episode; followed by 'natural', 'intentional' and then 'unintentional'. So if they don't discuss your favorite this week, stay tuned, it may still show up in a later episode. In the mean time, the guys know What Some of You Deserve.

The Wolf Man (1941) starring Lon Chaney Jr.
